Symbolic capital and positions of domination in the SNI academics of engineering in Chiapas

The present work is derived from a doctoral research where one of the objectives is: to unveil the cultural, political and economic capital that makes possible the work of researchers of the National System of Researchers (SNI), focused on the area of knowledge VIII that corresponds to Engineering. The object of study are the experiences of academics and SNI researchers of four public Higher Education Institutions (HEI) in Chiapas, collected through in-depth interviews, and by means of a biographical-narrative methodology, the analysis of their stories will be carried out. The results point to a direct relationship between the types of capital that the agent possesses and the location he/she has within the field, which means greater or lesser life possibilities.
